The first symposium on deep underground radiobiology organized by Tsinghua University was held on May 29, 2021 at Tsinghua University. It was conducted both online and on-site. About 50 experts and representatives from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Beijing Normal University, Zhejiang University, Anhui University, Sichuan University, the Institute of Modern Physics Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Fudan University, the National Institute for Radiological Protection China CDC, Sun Yat-sen University and other institutions attended the symposium.
The reports mainly involved the construction progress of China JinPing underground Laboratory (CJPL), the current status and prospects of deep underground radiobiology research, and the research progress in radiobiology and radiology in China. The participants had a lively discussion on the topic of radiobiology and expressed their own ideas and advice. All the participants agreed that this symposium had a great significance and hoped to continue to join in further discussion later to promote deep underground radiobiology researches based on CJPL.
