Third Conference on Frontiers of Underground and Space Physics and Cosmophysics Held

     The third Conference on Frontiers of Underground and Space Particle Physics and Cosmophysics (COUSP2024) was held in Xichang, Sichuan Province from May 7th to 11th, 2024. Co-hosted by Tsinghua University and the Institute of Theoretical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, with co-sponsorship from Yalong River Hydropower Development Co., Ltd., this conference brought together over 420 academicians, experts, and representatives from more than 85 universities and research institutions, including Tsinghua University, Peking University, Beijing Normal University, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, University of Science and Technology of China, Nankai University, Nanjing University, Sichuan University, Sun Yat-sen University, Wuhan University, Lanzhou University, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of High Energy Physics of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Modern Physics of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Theoretical Physics of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai Institute of Technical Physics of Chinese Academy of Sciences, National Astronomical Observatories of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Purple Mountain Observatory of Chinese Academy of Sciences, China Institute of Atomic Energy, and Yalong River Hydropower Development Co., Ltd.

Participants at the conference


     The conference featured 269 academic presentations, including 21 plenary talks and 248 parallel talks. During the four days, the conference focused intensively on the frontiers of current underground and space physics and cosmophysics, including dark matter theory and experiments, neutrino theory and experiments, gravitational wave theory and experiments, space astronomy and particle detection, nuclear astrophysics, cosmic ray physics, detector physics and technology, electronics technology, low-background technology, ultra-low-flux ultra-wide-energy-range neutron physics and measurement technology, underground biophysics, and more.

     The participants had an in-depth discussion on the current research status and results of the topics, as well as the prospects and technological routes. During the conference, attendees also visited the China Jinping Underground Laboratory.

     Since its inception, the conference has been held for three consecutive sessions, and it will continue to be held biennially in the future.
